2022 Sport & Recreation Grants Recipients Announced Today

More than 60 local sport and recreation organisations across Canberra will receive funding for operations, facility upgrades and equipment - under the ACT Government’s 2022 Sport and Recreation Grants Program.

The grants will see more than $2.6 million invested in local sport and recreation, helping to increase participation.

Organisations receiving funding through the program include:

  • Canberra Archery Club, for the installation of a permanent all-weather structure along the current shooting line to enable continued participation throughout weather conditions - $44,220
  • Tuggeranong Valley Rugby Union and Sports Club, for upgrades to two bowling greens from turf to synthetic to sustain maintenance costs and secure a long term location for Lawn Bowls in the ACT - $250,000
  • Canberra Croquet Club, for upgrades to the heritage-listed sporting facility to improve access and amenities to support groups disadvantaged by the current clubhouse design. Improvements include female friendly facilities, disability upgrades and storage and safety improvements - $410,000
  • Muslim Sisters to Action (MustACT), will receive funding to support a closed, culturally sensitive swim program for Muslim women to enjoy casual swimming, lessons and hydrotherapy at Aquatots in Gold Creek. Funding will support the continuation of the existing program, that currently has 90 participants - $10,000
  • Yarabi Football Club, to provide start-up equipment for this new football club in Gungahlin which is affiliated with Capital Football - $6,000
  • The Scout Association of Australia ACT Branch, to review its legal corporate structure for the first time in 40 years, to ensure it remains well placed to meet future challenges and continue to deliver youth education programs - $37,500.
