Only one week left to apply for a City Grant

Released 23/04/2019

Creative individuals, groups and organisations have one week left to apply for City Grant to help enliven the public spaces of Civic, Braddon and Acton.

The latest round of City Grants has a new structure that allows recipients of larger grants a full year to undertake their activity.

City Renewal Authority chief executive officer Malcolm Snow encouraged people who wanted to make the city centre a more attractive, welcoming and exciting place to put their ideas forward for grants of up to $50,000.

“City Grants are a great opportunity for members of the community to help make our city centre that little bit better,” Mr Snow said.

“If you have an idea to improve people’s experience in Civic, Acton or Braddon then applying for City Grant can help bring your idea to life.

“Grants of up to $10,000 are easy to apply for and can be a great way to fund your event, installation or activity.

“Larger grants of up to $50,000 are also available, and you now have up to 12 months to undertake your activity.

“Our community has some really creative minds and our message to those people who want to make the city centre even better is, ‘Do your thing. We’ve got your back’ with a City Grant.”

Applications for City Grants close at 3pm on 30 April.

Tier 1 grants of up to $10,000 will need to be delivered by the end of 2019, with another round opening later in the year for activity in the first half of 2020. Tier 2 grants of up to $50,000 will now be able to undertake their activity anytime within 2019/20.

Previous grant recipients have included music events, pop-up parks, art activities and installations, and research projects.

City Grants are funded by the City Centre Marketing and Improvements Levy.
