Canberra’s City Centre will come to life again this winter

The City Centre will come alive once again this winter with plenty on the events calendar to celebrate our city’s distinct season.

Winter in the City will return and this time it will be bigger and better than ever. Canberrans and visitors will be able to experience real, fresh snow as the heart of the City Centre is transformed into a magical winter wonderland.

There’ll be something for everyone from snow play, toboggan rides and ice skating to delicious cosy hot chocolates and marshmallows roasting over an open fire. All of this and more invites Canberrans to spend more time in the City Centre, shopping, eating, meeting friends and being entertained.

Last year 20,000 people visited the ice rink and we are expecting more this year with the addition of real snow.

The ice rink and snow play will open at 9am daily from Friday 30 June – Sunday 16 July in Civic Square and Ainslie Place. Book your tickets early as places are limited: winter.inthecity.com.au

Local businesses are also being encouraged to participate in the Winter in the City campaign by getting involved with offers and promotions. Businesses can still sign up with offers to entice the Canberra community at winter.inthecity.com.au

There’s even more to enjoy in Canberra’s City Centre and surrounds this winter

Bringing the spirit of the most beautiful French-inspired wine and winter market, the Xmas in July Festival is back again this year. Taking place at the Parkes Place Lawns, the festival includes the ever-popular raclette melted cheese igloo experience from Thursday 22 June – Sunday 2 July and delicious food and beverages, live music and Christmas carols from Thursday 29 June – Sunday 2 July. Questacon will once again host spectacular Mid-Winter Nights with illuminated igloos, roaming performances, mesmerising fire shows, family-friendly activities and science by night.
