Special holiday bus timetable in place from next week

Starting next week, Transport Canberra will run a revised bus timetable to help Canberrans plan their holiday travels over the Christmas and New Year period.

The Christmas holiday timetable will run over a three week period from Monday 19 December 2016 to Friday 6 January 2017 to reflect decreased passenger demand during the festive season.

In addition to the revised timetable, passengers can expect to see weekend timetables in place for major holiday events. A Saturday timetable will be in place for both Christmas and New Year’s Eve and a Sunday timetable will be in place for Boxing Day, Tuesday 27 December, New Year’s Day and Monday 2 January 2017.

On Christmas Day, passengers can once again travel for free this year, with buses servicing all major bus stations. There will also be special return services to the Alexander Maconochie Centre, from Platform 1 in the City Bus Station.

Over the holiday period, travelers are also reminded that the city bus loop will not operate from Saturday 24 December to Monday 2 January 2017.

There are many ways that Canberrans can plan their journey with the revised holiday timetables. A limited number of hardcopy timetables are now available from major Bus Stations and timetables can be viewed, downloaded and printed from www.transport.act.gov.au.

Passengers can also check NXTBUS for real time information on bus services and call the Transport Canberra Information line during operating hours on 13 17 10 to plan their holiday travels.
