Upgrades to improve parking get underway today at the car parks at Yarralumla Dog Park and Pescott Lane.
The upgrades include resurfacing works to seal the surfaces of the two car parks to manage the erosion and dust caused by existing dirt and gravel surfaces, improving the capacity of both car parks.
“These upgrades will provide additional car parking by creating two formalised car parks complete with marked parking spots, including accessible parking spaces, improving the experience of motorists and visitors,” Director of Capital Works and Development Support at Transport Canberra and City Services Ben McHugh said.
Upgrades at Yarralumla Dog Park car park include:
- existing car park will remain with adjustments made to the northern boundary
- surface of car park will be asphalted
- provision of 56 line marked parking spaces including two accessible parking spaces
- additional trees and landscaping.
“To minimise disruptions to dog park visitors, during construction a temporary car park will be created to the south of the current one. Following construction, the bollards and grass in this area will be reinstated,” said Mr McHugh.
Upgrades at the Pescott Lane car park include:
- existing car park will remain with adjustments made to the layout to maximise the space, manage drainage and improve path connections
- surface of car park will be asphalted
- provision of 122 line marked parking spaces including four accessible parking spaces
- additional trees and landscaping including shade trees in centre aisles.
“To minimise disruptions to the community, construction at the Pescott Lane car park will be delivered in two stages to ensure at least half the car park is open for use at all times. Temporary traffic management including signs, fencing and bollards will be in place to direct vehicles and walkers around the work sites.
“Construction is expected to be completed by the end of June 2018, weather permitting. The ACT Government thanks the community for their patience during these works,” Mr McHugh concluded.
