Resurfacing works improving the commutes of road users

A number of temporary road closures will be in place over the next week in Symonston and Spence as the 2018-19 Road Resurfacing Program continues to progress across Canberra.

Monaro Highway off/on ramps near Hindmarsh Drive, Symonston

Location and timing of closures

  • The Monaro Highway northbound off ramp to Hindmarsh Drive and the Monaro Highway southbound on ramp from Hindmarsh Drive will be closed on Saturday 24 November 2018.
  • Only one ramp will be closed at a time.
  • Works are planned to be completed by midday.
  • Lane closures and speed reductions will be in place on Monaro Highway around each ramp.

Effects on traffic and detours

  • Detours will be in place along Canberra Avenue.
  • Delays are expected.
  • Motorists and road users are advised to seek an alternate route where possible.

Effects on public transport

Kuringa Drive, Spence

Location and timing of closures

  • Kuringa Drive will be closed in both directions between Owen Dixon Drive and the Barton Highway on Friday 23 November between the hours or 9.30 am and 4 pm.
  • In case of unexpected delays, including inclement weather, work may continue until Tuesday 27 November 2018.
  • Roadside signage will advise of changes to timing.

Effects on traffic and detours

  • Detours will be in place via William Slim Drive.
  • Delays are expected.
  • Motorists and road users are advised to seek an alternate route where possible.
  • Traffic controllers as well as warning signs will be in place to alert people to the road closures and detours in place.
