Released 17/09/2019

DAS has now returned to normal opening hours but is maintaining strict quarantine processes in certain parts of the facility as a precautionary measure.

Members of the public who are interested in adopting a dog can visit the facility, but there will be restricted access to the kennels.

The facility was closed on Wednesday 4 September 2019 due to the presence of coronavirus. Three dogs tested positive to the virus and were quarantined at DAS and treated by a veterinarian. All other dogs at the facility have been observed by a veterinarian. Coronavirus cannot be transmitted to humans.

The risk of the coronavirus is always present in the ACT. If someone suspects their dog may have the virus they should call or attend their local vet.

DAS opening hours can be found at www.tccs.act.gov.au
