Released 04/06/2021
Local residents and regular visitors to the Jamison Group Centre are advised that work to improve tree health will begin from Monday 7 June causing temporary parking impacts for approximately six weeks.
Traditional carpark arrangements can create unfavourable growing conditions for trees. At the Jamison Group Centre in Macquarie, the ACT Government is trialling water sensitive urban design technology to try and improve shade and amenity for the local community by providing more space and improved growing conditions for trees.
Timing and location of works
From Monday 7 June 2021 until mid-July there will be a temporary loss of parking spaces at the Jamison Group Centre as we construct tree pits and plant the trees that will be part of the trial. To minimise impacts to parking as much as possible, works will be carried out in two stages.
The first stage of works includes construction of the tree pits and will take approximately four weeks to complete (weather permitting). As part of this stage, around 80 parking spaces will be unavailable.
Following completion of the first stage of works, the impacted parking spaces will be made available before stage two closures are put in place. As part of stage two, around 40 parking spaces will be unavailable.
Accessible parking spaces will be relocated during construction to minimise disruption.
Works are expected for completion by the end of July 2021 (weather permitting).
We understand that the Jamison Group Centre is very popular with both local residents and the wider community and we will be working to complete works and open up sections of car parking as quickly and safely as possible. We thank the community for their patience whilst these works are carried out.
