Targeted timetable adjustments will be introduced from Tuesday 7 April to improve reliability on selected bus routes and school services, following a review of real world bus performance across the network since the closure of Commonwealth Avenue Bridge.
Jeremy Smith, Executive Group Manager Transport Canberra, said services have been closely monitored since the revised "construction" bus network commenced in February 2026, with particular focus on the routes operating south of the City that utilise Commonwealth Avenue Bridge.
“Now that the actual impacts of the Commonwealth Avenue Bridge closure on bus travel times are known, minor adjustments are being made to timetables,” Mr Smith said.
“The timetable adjustments address early running, which is when a bus arrives earlier than scheduled, and can be disruptive for passengers.
“These timetable refinements will improve the reliability of services from 7 April, ahead of a more comprehensive network and timetable update expected from Term 3.”
All services that use Commonwealth Avenue Bridge will have updated run times to better reflect actual travel conditions.
From Tuesday 7 April:
- Updated timetables will apply across a number of Rapid and local routes.
- School services and routes used by students will adopt the updated departure times when school returns for Term 2 on Monday 20 April 2026.
- Most changes in timing are small but important for improving on time running and reliability and are informed by real-world travel impact.

“For students and families who are in the process of winding down for the upcoming Easter school holidays, we encourage them to check updated timetables before the start of Term 2 and allow time to adjust during the first week back.”
Updated timetables and school information packs are now available on the Transport Canberra website.
School packs include updated platform details for the new Woden Interchange, opening at the start of Term 2 on Monday 20 April.
Passengers can plan ahead using the MyWay+ app and the journey planner on the Transport Canberra website.
Transport Canberra will continue to monitor bus performance closely and make further adjustments where needed to ensure a safe and reliable network. A larger network update is planned for the second half of the year, with a focus on increasing services and improving frequency.
