Have your say on next steps for our digital territory

Released 30/04/2019

Digital isn’t just about computers or using the internet; it describes a new way of doing things. The ACT Government wants to hear from you about how we could use digital and technology to improve the lives of all Canberrans.

“We already use digital to do our banking, plan our trip on public transport, shop and keep in touch with friends and family,” said Chief Digital Officer Bettina Konti.

“Now we want to hear your ideas for the next things government can do to ensure all Canberrans, regardless of their ability to access or use technology, can benefit from it.”

A discussion and survey are now open on the YourSay website, asking Canberrans to think about how much digital impacts on our daily lives, and how we could use it next.

“Using technology is becoming as natural and fundamental as breathing. We want to put that to good use, anticipating and removing the burden of life admin, and continue growing Canberra as an inclusive, progressive and connected city,” Ms Konti said.

Community feedback will be used to help refresh the ACT Government Digital Strategy for 2020-2022.

“A lot has changed since the first strategy was released in 2016. The number of online transactions with ACT Government has more than tripled, from around half a million completed in 2016 to more than 1.5 million completed in 2018,” Ms Konti said.

“We know our community expects us to evolve from online forms to intuitive holistic services, tailored to individual circumstances. Our goal with the Digital Strategy is always to reflect the community we are and are becoming.”
