Released 13/03/2018
The ACT Parks and Conservation Service wishes to update the community on the latest planned prescribed burns being conducted to reduce fire fuel loads and to improve ecosystem health.
Sunday 11 March 2018
A number of prescribed burns currently being conducted will continue tomorrow. These are:
- Prescribed burns at Blue Range, Piccadilly and Potter’s Hill in Namadgi National Park; and
- An ecological burn at Jerrabomberra Grasslands east, adjacent to Lanyon Drive, Hume.
The following burns will also be conducted:
- A 7 hectare ecological burn at Dunlop Grasslands Nature Reserve, Douglas Waterhouse Drive, Dunlop;
- A 6 hectare ecological burn at South Kama Nature Reserve on William Hovell Drive, Molonglo;
- A 3,012 hectare prescribed burn at Smokers Trail in Namadgi National Park; and
- A 2,157 hectare prescribed burn at Blue Gum in Namadgi National Park.
Access to Corin Forest, Woods Reserve, Square Rock Walking Trail and Gibraltar Falls will not be affected.
ACT Parks and Conservation is reminding the community to please keep well clear of burn sites for their safety as well as that of the firefighters working on site. Smoke from the prescribed burns can cover roads and obscure vision making driving dangerous.
See the location map of all the burn sites.
