CSI Tidbinbilla ready to go at Wildfest this school holidays

Released 11/09/2018

Families are invited to experience CSI Tidbinbilla this coming school holidays at Wildfest, the ultimate family sleepover at Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve from September 28 until October 13.

“CSI Tidbinbilla is a fun and educational ‘CSI’ style mock investigation where families will search for the predator who has taken one of our potoroos from the Eucalypt forest,” Director of ACT Parks and Conservation, Daniel Iglesias said.

“This is an exciting addition to the Wildfest itinerary that also includes the new ‘hi-tech wildlife’, an insight into the role of technology in working with animals using infra-red cameras, night vision scopes and radar koala tracking equipment. Both are a completely new approach to immersive nature tourism activities.

“Wildfest is an opportunity for families to wake up in a wildlife sanctuary at the spectacular Wildfest Pop Up Wilderness Family Camp. The luxury glamping on offer is an alternative to families using our pubic camp grounds and is a new way to educate kids on the sanctuary, the staff, the animals and their habitat in a really engaging and entertaining manner.

“The Wildfest line-up already includes an incredible array of ranger and wildlife activities, crafted in a unique and educational way to learn about Tidbinbilla and the vital work being carried out in protecting native species in the ACT.”

Other new activities added to the Wildfest itinerary include an interactive learning experience of habitat and animal identification called scavenge the sanctuary, going behind the scenes at the vet centre, experiencing the life of a ranger, fireside culture chats, learning about the morning birds of Tidbinbilla and hiking to the sacred Aboriginal shelter - Hanging Rock.
