Solar power at the forefront of Actsmart Expo 2018

Released 12/09/2018

Solar powered battery storage and the latest technology to improve sustainability will be at the forefront of the 8th annual Actsmart Business Sustainability Expo at the Southern Cross Club tomorrow.

“This is the biggest Actsmart expo yet, with 37 businesses from across the region showcasing their latest products and services on how people can save money while helping the environment,” Senior Manager, Sustainability Programs, Ros Malouf said

“There will be a keynote seminar on smart solar storage, which will help businesses and homeowners become involved in one of the largest rollouts of batteries in the world, and help the ACT become a world leader in renewable energy.

“Canberra’s annual fashion event, FASHFEST, will be presenting (at 10am) a special ‘green’ themed fashion show, and we’ll find out who will be the winner of the 2018 OzHarvest Celebrity Chef Cook-off (2.30pm).

“There’s also information sessions on how hotels can become more environmentally savvy, on how businesses can stand out from the crowd with their sustainability, and how international businesses like IKEA are leading the way in workplace initiatives for a greener future.

“Canberra’s commercial sector is a big consumer of energy so it’s vital that we have businesses on board to assist us in achieving our 100% renewable energy target by 2020 and carbon neutrality by 2045.

“Hopefully everyone who comes to this year’s expo can walk away with a ‘greener’ mindset, and a better understanding of how to reduce their waste, water and energy use.”
