Public Health Alert: Additional food recall issued after potential contamination with unsafe plant material

Released 17/12/2022

People are advised not to eat Woolworths pre-packaged ‘Chicken Cobb Salad’ and ‘Chickpea Falafel Salad’ with specific use by dates.

The recall by Food Standards Australia and New Zealand (FSANZ) follows an earlier recall for 'Riviera Farms' branded baby spinach due to a number of cases of possible food-related toxic reactions in Australia.

Further information about the Woolworths recall is available on the FSANZ website.

The impacted products were sold through Woolworths and Woolworths Metro stores in ACT, NSW, QLD and Victoria.

The impacted products are:

  • Woolworths Chicken Cobb Salad 270g (use by 20 December 2022)
  • Woolworths Chickpea Falafel Salad 290g (use by 20 and 22 December 2022)

The products are not safe to consume and people who have these products should return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Food Standards Australia and New Zealand advise the products are being recalled due to potential contamination with unsafe plant material.

Anyone who is concerned about exposure to the salads should call the Poisons Information Centre on 13 11 26.

ACT Health urges anyone who experiences any unusual and severe symptoms to seek immediate medical attention by visiting their nearest emergency department. In the event of an emergency, call Triple Zero (000).

Reported symptoms can be severe, including:
