ACT Climate Change Council Annual Report 2023-24 under the Climate Change and Greenhouse Reduction Act 2010

Cabinet agreed to the tabling and public release of the ACT Climate Change Council Annual Report 2023-24 and the Minister for Climate Change, Environment, Energy and Water’s Statement, under the Climate Change and Greenhouse Gas Reduction Act 2010.
The proposal provides an overview of advice provided to the Minister from a group of climate experts. The report indirectly affects the Environment and Climate domain through the documentation of advice provided by the ACT Climate Change Council on emissions reduction and increasing resilience to climate change.
ACT and Region Catchment Management Coordination Group Annual Report 2023-24

Memorandum of Understanding between Office of the National Rail Safety Regulator and Electrical Safety Regulators

Cabinet agreed the ACT Government sign the renewal of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Office of the National Rail Safety Regulator and Electrical Safety Regulators (represented by Access Canberra) at the agency level.
The key wellbeing impact domains are safety and access and connectivity. The ACT Government does not anticipate any changes in impacts to the Canberra community from the renewal of this Memorandum of Understanding.
Variation in Sex Characteristics (Restricted Medical Treatment)

Cabinet agreed to the drafting of and introduction to the ACT Legislative Assembly, an amendment to the Variation in Sex Characteristics (Restricted Medical Treatment) Act 2023 to enable prescribed persons currently receiving treatment for a variation in sex characteristics to continue to receive treatment for 12 months without an approved Individual Treatment Plan or General Treatment Plan following the commencement of Section 10 and Part 4 of the Act.
The amendments to the Variation in Sex Characteristics (Restricted Medical Treatment) Act 2023 will impact wellbeing primarily through health, enabling treatment continuity for people with a variation in sex characteristics who are already receiving treatment.
Vote on the National Competition Policy (NCP) Intergovernmental Agreement

Cabinet agreed to support the ACT entering into the National Competition Policy Intergovernmental Agreement and a National Competition Policy reforms Federation Funding Agreement at the Council of Federal Financial Relations.
The submission seeks agreement to vote in favour of the ACT entering into the National Competition Policy Intergovernmental Agreement and Federation Funding Agreement. It is anticipated that the ACT’s support for, and participation in, these national policy changes and reforms will have broad positive impacts for the ACT economy, with the potential to improve cost of living through a variety of avenues.
Government Response to Petition PET-040-24: Workers Compensation for Workplace Incident

Cabinet agreed that the Minister for Skills, Training and Industrial Relations will provide the response to Petition PET-040-024 workers compensation for workplace incident to the Clerk of the ACT Legislative Assembly for tabling.
The ACT Government is committed to ensuring that our ACT public sector workers who become ill or injured through the course of their work are supported in recovering and returning to work. These arrangements continue to be monitored and reviewed to ensure they are working effectively to achieve this.
