ACT Government Report No. 2 (January 2012) in response to the Auditor-General’s Report No. 1 of 2011: Waiting Lists for Elective Surgery and Medical Treatment

Cabinet agreed the Government’s Report No. 2 on Waiting Lists for Elective Surgery and Medical Treatment.  In response to the Auditor-General’s Report No.1 of 2011, the Government agreed to provide the Legislative Assembly with regular, six-monthly reports on progress in relation to the implementation of agreed recommendations.  The first report was tabled in October 2011.  Report No 2 was Tabled in the Legislative Assembly on 27 March 2012 and is available on the Health Directorate websiteimg-icn-extlink.

City Centre Marketing and Improvements Grant

Cabinet agreed to renew the City Centre Marketing and Improvements Grant and reappoint Canberra CBD Limited to administer the Grant for an additional three years.  The Grant is funded through an amendment to the Rates Act 2004, introduced in 2006.  Revenue collected from the levy is used to promote, maintain and improve the amenity of the Civic area.  The Explanatory Statement is available on the ACT Legislation Registerimg-icn-extlink.

Progress Report on the Knowledge Consulting Review

Cabinet agreed the Progress Report on the Knowledge Consulting Review.  The initial Government Response to the 2011 Reports by Knowledge Consulting concerning the Alexander Maconochie Centre was tabled in the Legislative Assembly on 28 June 2011. The Progress Reportimg-icn-extlink provides an update on implementation of the Reports’ recommendations and was tabled in the Legislative Assembly on 29 March 2012.

Introduction of Amending Legislation

Cabinet agreed to introduce, in the ACT Legislative Assembly, the following Bills during March:

  • Land Rent Amendment Bill 2012
  • Long Service leave (Portable Schemes) (Security Industry) Amendment Bill 2012
  • Rates and Land Tax Legislation Amendment Bill 2012
  • Duties Amendment Bill 2012
  • Classification (Publications, Films and Computer Games) (Enforcement) Amendment Bill 2012
  • Planning Building and Environment Legislation Amendment Bill 2012

Racing Appeals Tribunal

Cabinet agreed to endorse proposed appointments to the Racing Appeals Tribunal, subject to Standing Committee consultation.
