Roof replacements for Dickson and Melba Copland schools

Released 02/02/2023 - Joint media release

Local schools around the ACT will be upgraded as part of the Government’s biggest ever school investment program, ensuring that every ACT school is a great school.

Roof replacements will take place at Dickson College and Melba Copland Secondary School (both campuses), with a $10.9 million investment.

With more Canberra families choosing to send their children to their local public school, the ACT Government is investing in new and upgrade schools right across the Territory.

Quotes attributable to ACT Treasurer Andrew Barr:

The ACT Government is investing in our city and in infrastructure that is built for Canberra, to ensure that our city continues to be one of the most liveable in the world.

These roof replacement projects will not only improve amenity for students, but also create local jobs.

Quotes attributable to Minister for Education and Youth Affairs Yvette Berry:

Every ACT public school is a great school. But as our schools age, from time-to-time they require additional investments to ensure the infrastructure is up to the standard we expect.

For Dickson College and Melba Copland Secondary and College campuses, the time has come for us to undertake this work. I look forward to seeing the new roofs installed at these schools.
