The Canberra Region Visitors Centre (CRVC) has led the awards for Canberra’s tourism industry, winning best Visitor Information Service in Australia at the 2023 Qantas Australian Tourism Awards in Darwin tonight.

The CRVC at Commonwealth Park offers an exceptional experience for visitors and locals alike. The VisitCanberra staff are do an amazing job and go above and beyond to welcome people to Canberra.

The CRVC attracts 220,000 visitors each year. For many of those visitors, the CRVC is their first port of call, and it’s wonderful to know they are getting a service that is second to none, and that promotes the very best our city has to offer.

Two other local entrants won gold at the Awards last night, including the National Capital Authority for their amazing Lights on the Lake event in the Events and Festivals category, and the Royal Australian Mint for Cultural Tourism.

The Museum Shop at the National Museum of Australia took home silver in the Tourism, Retail and Hire Services category, Alivio Tourist Park won silver for Caravan and Holiday Parks and Jamala Lodge won silver for Unique Accommodation. The National Arboretum was awarded bronze in the Ecotourism category.

Canberra’s tourism industry is unlike anywhere else. In the past year we have seen record leisure and visiting friends and family (VFR) numbers, while our events, venues and business continue to push the envelope to provide new and enticing experiences for our visitors.

As a result of the industry’s hard work, we are on track to meet our shared ambition of growing the value of tourism to the ACT economy to $4 billion by 2030, focusing on our tourism 2030 strategic vision of a thriving, sustainable destination that benefits Canberrans.

Congratulations to all our winners and finalists.
