Local Canberra breweries ready to pour at Manuka Oval

Released 01/12/2020

Manuka Oval’s new partnership with Canberra breweries will see local businesses have increased pourage rights at Manuka Oval.

Local breweries BentSpoke Brewing and Capital Brewing Co will be joining Lion under new pourage rights to sell their product across the eight matches at Manuka Oval this month.

This is a major milestone for our local brewers and a reflection of the ACT Government’s commitment to encouraging Canberrans to choose local.

Awarding pourage rights to local businesses is testament of the quality of Canberra’s industry and will deliver significant financial returns for our local economy.

With Manuka Oval’s capacity increased to 65% for the next eight matches, visitors will be able to sample the fantastic selection of quality beers and ciders now available from local vendors.

While this is a great reason to celebrate, the ACT is still in the middle of a public health emergency. I would like to remind everyone to drink in moderation, observe physical distancing requirements and follow the venue’s COVIDSafe guidelines.

We hope that this is just the beginning of the ACT Government’s increased partnership with our local breweries and look forward to continuing to provide positive experiences for punters going to the cricket.

Quote attributable to Richard Watkins, Co-founder and Head Brewer at BentSpoke Brewing Co:

“As a long-term cricket fan, I can’t wait to see Canberrans get to enjoy great local craft beer at historic Manuka Oval. We are glad that we had just enough time to brew Silly MID On in time for the first over to be bowled.”
