New law changes being made by the ACT Government will make the unit titles application process easier and faster, enabling more use of contactless digital documentation.
Planning and Land Management Minister Mick Gentleman introduced amendments in the ACT Legislative Assembly today to improve efficiencies in the application of building management statements.
“The ACT Government is making further improvements to enable greater use of digital documentation, making it even easier to navigate building management in a contactless manner. We are making these changes partly because we have identified the need to facilitate building management in a COVID-safe way.
“Changes to the Unit Titles Regulation 2001 will facilitate a move to an electronic system for processing unit title applications, removing the need for hard copy documents to be signed and couriered between the applicant and the Land Titles Office.”
Further efficiencies are also being made to the Land Titles Act 1925 andthe Planning and Development Act 2007 to clarify matters relating to Building Management Statements and the administration of Land Management Agreements.
“We have clarified the lodgement and approval process for Building Management Statements to improve the efficiency of the process and allowing for faster approvals,” Minister Gentleman said.
“The government is also working on a second stage of the Managing Buildings Better reform program to continue to make operational improvements for people who live and work in units.”
