New plan to reinvigorate Oaks Estate

Released 06/08/2021

Oaks Estate is set to benefit from more homes and business activity while keeping its village character as part of a new plan that’s now open for consultation.

Minister for Planning and Land Management Mick Gentleman encouraged the community to provide feedback on changes to the Territory Plan that will implement the Oaks Estate Master Plan.

“This planning change reflects the Oaks Estate community’s feedback and will support local jobs and businesses,” Minister Gentleman said.

“Important sites such as the heritage-listed Robertson House and The Oaks will also be preserved, with controls put on blocks adjoining Robertson House so development doesn’t affect its heritage value.

“We are also preparing to release nine government-owned residential and commercial sites identified in the master plan and the government’s land release program.

“These sites will enable new residents to invest in Oaks Estate and provide opportunities to support the local economy.”

Public consultation for Oaks Estate Draft Variation 328 opens today and runs until 17 September 2021.
