The AFP has sworn in 24 new ACT Policing officers following a graduation ceremony today.
Minister for Police, Fire and Emergency Services Dr Marisa Paterson welcomed the ACT’s newest police officers at the graduation.
“We’re excited to see these new officers step into their roles and begin serving our community, each bringing valuable life experience with them,” Minister Paterson said.
“While many are local to Canberra, it is inspiring to see others who have relocated from across the country, including from as far away as Western Australia, to join ACT Policing. I encourage anyone passionate about serving the ACT to consider a career in policing or within our broader emergency services.
“Choosing a career in policing is a significant and selfless decision. On behalf of the ACT Government and the ACT community, I thank you for choosing to be an ACT Policing officer, and I wish you all the best in your future policing career.”
The ACT Government has committed to an additional 150 ACT Policing staff with approximately 90 new officers to graduate this year. This year has seen record interest in policing with officer application numbers the highest ACT Policing has ever seen.
