The ACT Government is providing funding to help Canberrans build the skills they need to participate in the workforce or continue to further training.
The Adult Community Education program, funded through the National Skills Agreement, supports local, not-for-profit organisations to help adults build skills in areas like literacy, numeracy, and digital capability.
Among the six organisations funded, the Worldview Foundation will receive $200,000 to deliver Solid Start, supporting young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men to build confidence, skills and direction for future education or employment.
Minister for Skills, Training and Industrial Relations, Michael Pettersson, said Funding Adult Community Education was about ensuring every Canberran has the opportunity to improve their lives.
“The right education or training can set you up for life” Minister Pettersson said.
“We talk a lot about our strong local economy, delivering more jobs with higher pay for Canberrans. But that’s meaningless to Canberrans who face barriers to employment.
“Funding Adult Community Education will help more Canberrans gain the skills they need to benefit from the thousands of good jobs being created in the ACT every year.”
The current round of ACE grants will support program delivery through to December 2027, helping more Canberrans gain the foundation skills they need to participate in the community and local economy.
