Sustainable Travel Street Party coming to the streets of Braddon

Released 06/03/2024

On Sunday 24 March, sections of Mort and Elouera streets in Braddon will be transformed into a street party showcasing sustainable travel and featuring great food and entertainment.

Minister for Energy and Emissions Reduction Shane Rattenbury said the Sustainable Travel Street Party will be a fun celebration that encourages people to think differently about the ways they get around the city and how we use our urban spaces.

“The Sustainable Travel Street Party will showcase car-free travel options including walking, cycling, scooting, skateboarding, public transport and more,” Minister Rattenbury said.

“The street party is about celebrating different ways to get around the city. We don’t need to stop driving altogether, but some days we might be able to make a different choice. This event is about making car-free travel as easy and accessible as possible to help Canberrans save money, improve their health, and reduce emissions.

“The free family event will bring the community together through live music, food and on-street entertainment. So come along to enjoy the fun and to find out more about sustainable travel options for getting around our city.”

More information on the Sustainable Travel Street Party is available on the Everyday Climate Choices website.

The Sustainable Travel Street Party was postponed in November 2023 due to weather and safety considerations and this is the rescheduled event.

Final event details, including an event map, will be made available on this website soon.
