Serious worksite safety incident in Turner today

WorkSafe ACT inspectors remain at the site of a serious work safety incident which occurred at a demolition site in Turner today.

The incident occurred about 12:30pm and involved a skid-steer loader that was operating on the site on Condamine Street.

ACT Fire & Rescue officers used hydraulic rescue equipment to access and free the male worker. He is understood to have sustained serious leg injuries and has been transported to The Canberra Hospital.

WorkSafe ACT has placed a Non-Disturbance Notice on the area of the site surrounding the incident and a Prohibition Notice on the skid-steer loader.

Inspectors remain on the site and investigations into the incident are continuing.
