Have YourSay on the future of Florey dry land oval

Released 28/07/2022

Florey’s dry land oval future look and feel will be shaped by a six-week community consultation process starting today.

The community survey to refresh a portion of the popular space is now open on the ACT Government’s YourSay platform.

“The ACT Government is keen to hear from the Florey Primary School community and the wider local community to gather ideas and feedback on the future redevelopment of Florey Oval,” said Minister for Education Yvette Berry.

“We have already heard some great ideas from the school community including a sporting oval, bike track and shaded areas. This is especially exciting for Florey Primary School students who use this space every day and want to see their ideas come to life”.

Feedback from the survey will inform initial concept plans and help identify a design option for the oval’s refresh.

The preliminary design concept plans will then also be shared through the ACT Government YourSay platform - where the community will have a further opportunity to provide feedback before the designs are finalised.

“Public spaces are a glue that hold communities together,” said Minister Berry. “Accessible and well-designed open spaces allow people to relax, exercise, meet, play, chat, connect and enjoy their natural environments.

“The ACT Government is committed to delivering natural open spaces that promote healthy lifestyles, provide habitats for wildlife and mitigate the effects of climate change.”

The Education Directorate invites community members, including children and young people, to have their say through the online YourSay survey to help shape the future elements of this space.

The survey can be found at www.yoursayconversations.act.gov.au/florey-oval-renewal

Consultation closes on Friday, 7 September.
