Fraser Oval’s future look and feel will be shaped by an eight-week community consultation process starting today.
The community survey seeking ideas about how to refresh the popular space is now open on the ACT Government’s YourSay platform.
Minister for Education Yvette Berry said the ACT Government had already consulted with Fraser Primary School students and staff, as well as Traditional Owners, about their ideas for the refresh of the oval.
“We are now asking the wider local community for their ideas and feedback on the future refresh of Fraser Primary School’s oval,” Minister Berry said.
“We have heard some great ideas from the school community, including sporting areas, a bike track and a yarning circle. This is especially exciting for the school’s students who use this space every day and want to see their ideas come to life.”
Feedback from the survey will help shape a concept design for Fraser Oval’s refresh. The concept design will then be shared through the ACT Government YourSay platform, where the community will have a further opportunity to provide feedback before the designs are finalised.
“Public spaces are a glue that hold communities together,” Minister Berry said.
“Accessible and well-designed open spaces allow people to relax, exercise, meet, play, chat, connect and enjoy their natural environments.
“The ACT Government is committed to delivering natural open spaces that promote healthy lifestyles, provide habitats for wildlife and mitigate the effects of climate change.”
The Education Directorate invites community members, including children and young people, to have their say through the online YourSay survey to help shape the future elements of this space.

Consultation closes on Wednesday 13 August.
