Government Response – Assembly Resolution – Public Transport Workforce and Timetables

Cabinet agreed to provide the Government Response to the Assembly Resolution relating to the Public Transport Workforce and Timetables.
The Transport Canberra Bus Network provides the Canberra community with connection to work, school and living resources (such as shopping, medial and personal appointments). The frequency of these services and Transport Canberra’s ability to suitably staff these services is a topic of the Resolution which the Government Response addresses.
Ministerial Statement - Progress of Government Commitments to Reduce Harm from Gaming

Cabinet agreed the Minister for Gaming deliver a Ministerial Statement in the ACT Legislative Assembly on the progress of Government commitments made in the Parliamentary Agreement to reduce harm from gaming while supporting sustainable clubs.
The Ministerial Statement primarily addresses the Governance and Institutions wellbeing domain (the ‘Trust in Government,’ ‘Trust in other institutions’ and ‘Feeling that voice and perspective matter’ wellbeing indicators in particular). It addresses the Government’s duty of transparency by being accountable to its citizens as to how it is honouring its key commitments.
Response to Resolution of 12 October 2022 – Road Maintenance

Cabinet agreed the Minister for Transport and City Services deliver a Ministerial Statement in the ACT Legislative Assembly to respond to the Assembly Resolution of 12 October 2022 regarding Road Maintenance.
The strategic road maintenance program will increase the rate of territorial road resurfacing, which is anticipated to improve road safety, ride quality, community satisfaction and minimise costs attributed to both road users and the ACT Government (e.g. roadworks).
Paramedics - Shortages and Working Conditions - Assembly Resolution of 1 December 2022 - Update - Ministerial Statement

National Road Safety Action Plan 2023-25

Improved safety on our roads is paramount to the wellbeing of all road users. The National Road Safety Action Plan provides the framework to progressively transform the national and local road transport system towards Vision Zero by strengthening all elements of the road transport system through safe system improvements.

Report 7 of the Standing Committee on Health and Community Wellbeing – Inquiry into the West Belconnen Supercell Thunderstorm – Government Response

Motor Accident Injuries Amendment Bill 2023

Voluntary assisted dying - agreement to consult

It will seek to enable all Canberrans to have their say, connect with and be part of key government processes, and to ultimately inform policy and law that will help Canberrans have access to end-of-life choices that align with their rights, values and preferences.

Cabinet agreed to the ACT Education Directorate Teacher Attraction and Retention Plan 2023-2028 (the Plan) be tabled in the ACT Legislative Assembly.
The Plan addresses the wellbeing domain of education and life-long learning. Implementing the Plan will positively impact the ACT community in access to quality public education and educational outcomes. Our teachers play a key role in shaping our children to become informed, active, and involved members of their communities. Implementation of the Plan will increase the likelihood of the Territory attracting and recruiting the required teaching workforce and have impacts on retaining high-quality teachers to deliver quality education to all children and young people in the ACT.
Government Response to Petition 26-22 - Parking and urban open space for Gungahlin apartment dwellers and small business owners

The response acknowledged that the proposed development will impact the surrounding area. This will include consideration of the statutory requirements outlined in the Planning and Development Act 2007 and Territory Plan.

The Petition outlines concerns in relation to the approval processes associated with perceived contradiction between the strategic plan for climate change and the Heritage Council’s decision regarding the choice and positioning of replacement heritage pine trees in Bradfield Street. They also outline there are no avenue to appeal the Heritage Council’s decision. The primary wellbeing domain is Governance and Institutions.
Recommendation 9 of the Inquiry into memorialisation through public commemoration – Update about the commissioning of future public artwork

Cabinet agreed the Minister for the Arts table a Government update on public art commemorating women, LGBTIQ+ people and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in the ACT Legislative Assembly.
The impact on wellbeing of the update to the Legislative Assembly is minor however, the formal submission will communicate to the community the importance of gender equality and diversity in ACT. The prioritisation of projects focusing on women, LGBTIQ+ people and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples will engender belonging through inclusion as artists and subjects of public artworks across the city.
Ministerial Statement - Progress update and reflections on 2022 National Disability Insurance Scheme policy reforms

Cabinet agreed the Minister for Disability deliver a Ministerial Statement on the progress of 2022 National Disability Insurance Scheme policy reforms in the ACT Legislative Assembly.
Policy and operational reform of the NDIS, including the findings and outcomes of the Independent Review of the NDIS to be brought forward in October 2023, will make improvements to all aspects of the Scheme, including the participant experience, quality of NDIS decision-making, Scheme return on investment, and putting people with disability back at the centre of the Scheme. This will have positive impact on the wellbeing of people with disability, their families and carers.
