Building and Construction Legislation Amendment Bill 2025

Cabinet agreed to the introduction of a Building and Construction Legislation Amendment Bill 2025 in the ACT Legislative Assembly to make amendments to the ACT’s building and construction regulatory system.

The Building and Construction Legislation Amendment Bill 2025 will have impacts across the economy, safety, home and housing and health domains through providing clarity around building and construction processes and increased safety through ensuring that there is proper oversight and regulation of building, gas and plumbing work.

Cabinet agreed to the Minister for Planning and Sustainable Development presenting the Planning (Territory Priority Project) Amendment Bill 2025 in the Legislative Assembly.

Crimes (Child Sex Offenders) Amendment Bill 2025 – Combined Pass

Cabinet agreed to introduce the Crimes (Child Sex Offenders) Amendment Bill 2025 to the Legislative Assembly. The Bill expands the proscribed child-related employment areas in which a registrable offender may not undertake employment.

The Bill has positive wellbeing impacts across the safety domain. The Bill will increase safety for children and the community.

Health Legislation Amendment Bill 2025 – Combined Pass

Cabinet agreed to the Attorney-General presenting the Justice and Community Safety Legislation Amendment Bill 2025 in the Legislative Assembly.

The Justice and Community Safety Legislation Amendment Bill 2025 has a primary positive wellbeing impact on the governance and institutions domain.

Ministerial Statement - 17-year anniversary of the National Apology to the Stolen Generations

The Ministerial Statement acknowledges the hurt and suffering of the Stolen Generation and the ongoing intergenerational trauma.

The Statement reiterates the ACT’s commitment to Uluru Statement from the Heart, United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, National Agreement on Closing the Gap and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Agreement 2019-2028.
