Changed traffic arrangements at the Barton Highway intersection

Released 08/11/2016

Major asphalt works as part of the Barton Highway/ William Slim Drive/ Gundaroo Drive intersection signalisation will require changed traffic arrangements over four nights.

From Sunday 13 to Wednesday 16 November 2016 changed traffic arrangements will be in place nightly from 9 pm to 6 am, weather permitting.

Traffic is encouraged to use alternate routes while these works are carried out, especially on the nights of Tuesday 15 and Wednesday 16 November 2016 when travel through the intersection will be slow. Motorists will be directed to use detours on the approach roads.

All access to the roundabout will be maintained.

Tuesday 15 and Wednesday 16 November 2016, 9 pm to 6 am

The roundabout will be closed to through and right turning traffic.

Access will be maintained using the roundabout’s slip lanes with detours in place.

Barriers, warning and diversion signs will be erected to alert motorists including heavy vehicle traffic to the changed arrangements. A reduced speed limit of 40 km/h will be in place during the works.

The changed traffic arrangements will allow pavement works to be completed in preparation for the installation of the traffic signals as part of the intersection upgrade. The intersection signalisation is planned to be completed in late November 2016 with the remaining construction works expected to be completed in February 2017.

We want to thank the community for their patience as we complete these important works. For up-to-date information on road closures call Access Canberra on 13 22 81 or visit  www.tccs.act.gov.au
