Survey outcomes
The ACTPS Employee Survey will provide essential information about our workforce. It is an important way for us to hear about your experience in the workplace.
Topics covered in the survey include:
- Capability and workload.
- Workplace culture and behaviour, including communication, change, misconduct, supervisor support, leadership, and job satisfaction.
- Demographic information, including diversity.
Held every 2 years, the ACTPS Employee Survey gives us an overview of the workplace across the ACTPS and looks at changes across our workforce over time. This helps us to begin assessing the impact of actions we have taken in response to previous survey outcomes.
Survey results give us important information to start a broader conversation about continuous improvement of our workplace cultures.
Reporting and follow-on
ORIMA Research, the external service provider for the survey, will produce individual reports for participating Directorates and sector entities and the ACT public service overall.
Protecting your privacy and ensuring anonymity in results is central to how we handle the data we collect throughout the survey process. Your responses will be kept strictly confidential, and your identity will not be revealed to anyone. We understand the importance of maintaining anonymity and have implemented several measures to ensure that your responses cannot be linked back to you:
- We do not ask you for your name or your address, or any other information that could be used to identify you.
- Any information that could be used to identify you is removed by our external service provider, ORIMA Research, before any data from the survey is provided to the Office of Industrial Relations and Workforce Strategy and participating directorates. This process is known as de-identification.
- We do not report any results where there are less than 10 responses, or data that could potentially reveal your identity if it is shared.
Action planning
Action planning is an important part of employee surveys. It's an opportunity for leadership to work with staff to respond to the feedback provided by survey participants. For the ACTPS Employee Survey, action planning is generally done at 2 or 3 levels:
- Whole of service – also known as sector-wide or service-wide, looks at themes in feedback provided by staff across all of the participating directorates and sector entities.
- Directorate (or sector entity) – Looks at themes in the feedback provided by staff across a single directorate or sector entity.
- Division or branch – Looks at feedback provided by a single division or branch.
Action planning is a process that responds to your feedback by planning targeted actions that address the key themes. It supports agreement on focus areas, identification of targeted actions , clearly identifies timeframes, and assigns responsibility for each action.
What to expect and when
ORIMA will produce and provide a presentation to Strategic Board and each Directorate outlining the results and potential areas for focus. These presentations will commence in October 2025. Action planning can begin after results and reports are received and reviewed.
Publication of the ACTPS whole of service results will occur in November 2025. No individual will be identifiable from any report or publication. For more information, visit the privacy and data security page.
