ACT Public Service Employee Survey

2023 ACTPS Employee Survey

The 2023 ACTPS Employee Survey is being run from 6 - 24 March.

The Survey collects feedback on matters of importance to the Service, including our performance, culture and leadership. This is an important opportunity for you to tell us what you think about your workplace.

It will take you about 25 minutes to complete.

About the survey

The ACTPS Employee Survey is held once every two years in March. It is managed by the Office of Industrial Relations and Workforce Strategy (established within the Chief Minister, Treasury and Economic Development Directorate).

Survey results inform the State of the Service Report and are also used to develop workforce policy and initiatives across government. Each participating directorate or sector entity is able to use survey results to identify strengths as well as areas for improvement. The Survey is an important way to make sure that staff have a confidential and productive way to provide feedback on the things that matter to them in the workplace.

The ACT Government has engaged ORIMA Research to conduct the 2023 ACTPS Employee Survey on its behalf. ORIMA Research is an independent Australian-owned company with over 20 years of experience with employee research. ORIMA Research delivered the pilot 2021 ACTPS Employee Survey and has delivered many surveys for ACT Government agencies over the years.

The ACTPS Employee Survey will be open from 6 – 24 March 2023.

2023 ACTPS Employee Survey timeline. February - Senior Leaders will launch the Survey across the ACTPS. 6 March - Survey opens, look out for your invitation email. 24 March - Last day to complete the survey. April - Initial results provided to the ACT Government. May - Results presented to Strategic Board and directorate senior leaders. June - Results sharing and action planning.

You will be asked to share your experience in three areas:

  • Workforce topics and questions that we want to track across the service over a long period of time and can benchmark against others (such as leadership),
  • contemporary topics and questions that may change over time to reflect current issues and challenges confronting the ACTPS (such as COVID-19),
  • topics and questions that are specific to your Directorate.

The survey will be run online using a secure web-based portal. The main way that you will access the survey is via a unique link in an invitation email. You can also access the survey using a general weblink or a QR code on a mobile device.

More information about how to complete the survey can be found on the participating in the survey page.

Protecting your information and identity is of the utmost importance. The data we collect about you will be handled with this in mind. Your supervisor will never have access to your individual responses. All survey data is held securely in Australian electronic storage facilities and will be de-identified by ORIMA before review and use by the Office of Industrial Relations and Workforce Strategy. More details are available on the privacy and data security page.

Everyone can participate

We want to hear from as many of our workforce as possible. Your participation in the survey is voluntary, but it is also really valuable. The more staff that respond to the survey, the greater trust we have that the feedback is an accurate reflection of employees' experience in the ACTPS.

If you don’t have an ACT Government email address, or aren’t in an office, you will still be able to participate by using a QR code or a web link. Visit the participating in the survey page for more details.

Most directorates will participate in this year’s survey, including Chief Minister, Treasury and Economic Development; Community Services; Education; Environment, Planning and Sustainable Development; Health; Justice and Community Safety; Major Projects Canberra and Transport Canberra and City Services. Participating Sector Entities include Canberra Institute of Technology, Cultural Facilities Corporation, Suburban Land Agency, and some smaller entities that will participate through their related Directorate.

If you work for an ACT public sector organisation that is not participating this year, you can still complete the survey. Your feedback will be included in sector-wide results.
