As part of the ACT Government's Open Government commitment, this document is a public summary of matters considered by Cabinet. It is not intended to be a detailed set of minutes and does not cover all matters considered by Cabinet. Among the matters not covered are materials considered in the formation of the ACT budget, commercial and industrial matters under negotiation as well as matters that would impact personal privacy, security and the ACT economy. Nothing in this document can be considered a waiver of the Government's executive privilege.

ACT Government Submission to Australian Government – Asbestos Management Review Issues Paper

Cabinet agreed the ACT Government's submission to the national review of asbestos management undertaken by the Australian Government.  The review examines asbestos management issues relating to work health and safety, environment and public health with the final report due by 30 June 2012.  The ACT submission provides a general background and overview of asbestos management in the ACT as well as responding to specific questions posed in the issues paper issued by the Australian Government.  The ACT Government's response is available on the Chief Minister and Cabinet Directorate website.

Government Response to the ACT Law Reform Advisory Council 'A report on suspended sentences in the ACT'

In 2010 the Attorney General referred the issue of suspended sentences of imprisonment to the ACT Law Reform Advisory Council (LRAC) for consideration. The LRAC report titled 'A report on suspended sentences in the ACT' makes five recommendations in relation to sentencing data collection by the Supreme Court and raises four policy questions for consideration by Government.

Cabinet agreed the release of the LRAC report and the ACT Government response, which are available on the Justice and Community Safety Directorate websiteimg-icn-extlink.

Sustainable Energy Policy

Cabinet agreed the release of the Sustainable Energy Policy 2011-2020 which establishes an integrated policy framework for managing the social, economic and environmental challenges faced by the Territory through to 2020 as they relate to energy production and use.  The document is available on the Environment and Sustainable Development Direcotrate websiteimg-icn-extlink.
