A meeting of the Budget Committee of Cabinet was held.  Treasury officials joined with Ministers to discuss matters of fiscal significance.

Committees of Cabinet – Capital Metro

The first meeting of the Capital Metro Sub-committee of Cabinet was convened.  This Sub-committee has been established to implement the election commitments of both ACT Labor and the ACT Greens in relation to Light Rail.  The Government has committed to phased implementation of light rail in the ACT with the initial stage being between Gungahlin and the City.

The project will be the largest and most complex undertaking embarked upon by the ACT Government.  Establishment of a dedicated Sub-committee of Cabinet, with the ability to invite senior officials, public servants and external parties including consultants to provide information and advice, will support the effective development and delivery of the project.

Council of Australian Governments

Cabinet discussed the agenda for the Council of Australian Governments meeting in Canberra on 7 December 2012.  Cabinet considered the ACT’s position in relation to the key issues listed for discussion.
