As part of the ACT Government's Open Government commitment, this document is a public summary of matters considered by Cabinet.  It is not intended to be a detailed set of minutes and does not cover all matters considered by Cabinet.  Among matters not covered are materials considered in the formation of the ACT budget, commercial and industrial matters under negotiation, as well as matters that would impact personal privacy, security and the ACT economy.  Nothing in this document can be considered a waiver of the Government's executive privilege.

National Energy Savings Initiative Issues Paper

Cabinet agreed the ACT Submission on the National Energy Savings Initiative Issues Paper.  The Commonwealth, through the Issues Paper, is seeking input into the design specifications for a National Energy Savings Initiative.  The ACT's Submission provides a formal response to a range of key design issues raised in the paper including potential impacts on energy market competition and distributional effects on low-income households.

The ACT Government, through the National Partnership Agreement on Energy Efficiency, committed to the development of a nationally consistent and coordinated package of measures to advance energy efficiency outcomes.  The Issues Paper forms part of the Commonwealth's consultation strategy.  The ACT's Submission and National Energy Savings Initiative Issues Paper are available on the Environment and Sustainable Development Websiteimg-icn-extlink.

COAG matters

Cabinet agreed to endorse a range of COAG-related agreements an implementation plans covering key service delivery areas.  Details will be released following Federal Government endorsement.

Appointments

ACT Commissioner for Public Administration

Cabinet agreed to endorse the appointment of Mr Andrew Kefford as Commissioner for Public Administration.

Official Visitor

Cabinet agreed to endorse the appointment of an Official Visitor pursuant to the provisions of the Children and Young People Act 2008, subject to Standing Committee consultation.
