It is not intended to be a detailed set of minutes and does not cover all matters considered by Cabinet. Among the matters not covered are materials considered in the formation of the ACT budget, commercial and industrial matters under negotiation as well as matters that would impact personal privacy, security and the ACT economy. Nothing in this document can be considered a waiver of the Government’s executive privilege.

Autumn 2014 Legislation Program

Cabinet discussed legislation proposed for the Autumn 2014 sittings.  Cabinet agreed to Table the key themes and government legislation priorities in the Legislative Assembly.

Lifetime care and support scheme implementation: a National Insurance Injury Scheme (NIIS)

Cabinet agreed to implement the National Injury Insurance Scheme (NIIS) and to introduce legislation into the Legislative Assembly.  The Bill and explanatory statement will be available on the ACT Legislation Registerimg-icn-extlink following tabling in the Assembly.

ACT Government submission to the Australian Government: Review of the Australian curriculum

Cabinet agreed to the ACT Government submission to the Australian Government’s Review of the Australian curriculum which is being provided to the Commonwealth Department of Education.

Rail Safety National Law (ACT) Bill 2014

Cabinet agreed to the Rail Safety National Law (ACT) Bill 2014 and its introduction into the Legislative Assembly. The Bill is set to align ACT’s rail safety with that of Australia’s other States and Territories. Construction and Energy Efficiency Legislation Amendment Bill 2014

Cabinet agreed the Construction and Energy Efficiency Legislation Amendment Bill 2014 and its introduction into the Legislative Assembly. The Bill will amend the following:

  • Construction Occupations (Licensing) Act 2004
  • Electricity Safety Act 1971
  • Energy Efficiency (Cost of Living) Improvement Act 2012
  • Construction Occupations (Licensing) Regulation 2004

Corrections and Sentencing Legislation Amendment Bill 2014

Cabinet agreed the Corrections and Sentencing Amendment Bill and its introduction into the Legislative Assembly. The Bill will amend the following:

  • Births, Deaths and Marriages Registration Act 1997
  • Corrections Management Act 2007
  • Crimes (Sentence Administration) Act 2005

Ministerial statement on the development of the Whole of Government Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander agreement

Cabinet agreed to the Minster for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Affairs make a ministerial statement on the development of a Whole of Government Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Agreement. The ministerial statement will be publicly available on the Hansard websiteimg-icn-extlink following tabling in the Legislative Assembly.
