As part of the ACT Government’s Open Government commitment, these are public summaries of matters considered by Cabinet. They are not intended to be a detailed set of minutes and do not cover all matters considered by Cabinet. Among the matters not covered are materials considered in the formation of the ACT budget, commercial and industrial matters under negotiation as well as matters that would impact personal privacy, security and the ACT economy. Nothing in this document can be considered a waiver of the Government’s executive privilege.

Budget Committee of Cabinet

A meeting of the Budget Committee of Cabinet was convened.  Ministers joined with Government Officials to consider matters of fiscal and economic significance.

Alexander Maconochie Centre (AMC) – Population Pressures

Cabinet met to consider the population pressures experienced at the AMC. Ministers were joined by Government Officials to consider approaches to address accommodation issues.

Residential Universal Design Guidelines

Cabinet agreed to promote the uptake of the voluntary Universal Design Guidelines for residential dwellings.  The guidelines provide for buildings to be more easily adapted to meet the changing needs of occupants over the life cycle.

ACT Protected Security Framework

Cabinet agreed to endorse a Protective Security Policy Framework.  The Framework reflects the ACT Government’s vision of building a standardised and effective protective security culture.

Government Submission into the Inquiry into Federal Safety Commissioner and Building and Construction OHS Accreditation Scheme

Cabinet agreed to the Government’s submission on the Inquiry into the Federal Safety Commissioner and Building and Construction Occupational Health and Safety Accreditation Scheme. Cabinet agreed the Minister for Workplace Safety and Industrial Relations provide the ACT Government submission to the Federal Safety Commissioner. It is expected that the submissions will be released by the Health Safety Commissioner in the near future.

Out of Home Care Strategy – Service System

Cabinet agreed to key policy directions as part of the development of the Out of Home Care Strategy.  The Strategy is designed to improve the quality of out of home care provided to children and young people in the ACT.

Capital Metro Update

Cabinet noted the strategic direction of the Capital Metro project aimed at delivering the first Light Rail service in the ACT.

Gaming Machine Reform Package

Cabinet noted the Minister’s intention to prepare a reform package on electronic gaming machines, which is designed to support the ongoing viability of the club sector and balance the needs of the community.

Appointments

Government Procurement Board

Cabinet agreed to endorse appointments of the Chair, Deputy Chair and two other member appointments to the Government Procurement Board.

Cabinet Secretary
