11 November 2014 - Summary of Cabinet Outcomes

As part of the ACT Government's Open Government commitment, this document is a public summary of matters considered by Cabinet. It is not intended to be a detailed set of minutes and does not cover all matters considered by Cabinet. Among matters not covered are materials considered in the formation of the ACT budget, commercial and industrial matters under negotiation, as well as matters that would impact personal privacy, security and the ACT economy. Nothing in this document can be considered a waiver of the Government's executive privilege.

Urban Development Committee

A meeting of the Urban Development Committee was convened.  Government officials joined with Ministers to discuss the City to the Lake project and options for development of the Kingston Arts Precinct as well as other matters of development and planning significance.

Direct Sale of unleased land to Cypcill Pty Limited

Cabinet agreed to the direct sale of land contiguous to Block 11 Section 68 Deakin to Cypcill Pty Limited.  The direct sale will be at market value and in accordance with the Planning and Development Act 2007. Master Plans - Weston Group Centre and Oaks Estate

Cabinet agreed to the Weston Group Centre Master Plan and the Oaks Estate Master Plan. The plans recognise the need to protect the character of the Weston Group Centre and Oaks Estate and guide their future development. The Plans and associated reports detailing the outcomes of community engagement can be found on the Environment, Planning and Sustainable Development Directorate Website.

Digital Canberra

Cabinet was provided an update on the Digital Hub project in Garema Place, in line with the Digital Canberra Action Plan that was released in March 2014.  The update included developments to date; the vital role of the CBR Innovation Network in delivering the project; and further initiatives to support community participation in digital transformation of the economy.

Appointments

    Public Trustee Investment Board

    Cabinet agreed to endorse the appointment of a part-time member to the Public Trustee Investment Board, subject to Standing Committee consultation.

    ACT Nominee to the Australian Industry and Skills Committee

    Cabinet agreed to endorse the ACT nomination for the Australian Industry and Skills Committee. The Minister for Education will refer the ACT Nominee to the COAG Industry and Skills Council.  Minister Macfarlane , as Chair of the COAG Council, will announce the full membership of the Council once all jurisdictions have confirmed their nominations.
