SUMMARY OF CABINET OUTCOMES FOR 13 OCTOBER 2015

As part of the ACT Government’s Open Government commitment, this document is a public summary of matters considered by Cabinet. It is not intended to be a detailed set of minutes and does not cover all matters considered by Cabinet. Among the matters not covered are materials considered in the formation of the ACT budget, commercial and industrial matters under negotiation as well as matters that would impact personal privacy, security and the ACT economy. Nothing in this document can be considered a waiver of the Government’s executive privilege.

Government Amendments to the Building (Loose-fill Asbestos Eradication) Legislation Amendment Bill 2015

Cabinet considered amendments to facilitate the continued acquisition, demolition and resale of properties affected by loose fill asbestos, including properties that are part of units.

Woden Town Centre Master Plan

Cabinet endorsed the Woden Town Centre Master Plan to improve the existing character and to guide future development of the Woden Town Centre.

Mawson Group Centre Master Plan

Cabinet endorsed the Mawson Group Centre Master Plan to improve the existing character and to guide future development of the Mawson Group Centre.

Government Response to the Auditor-General’s Performance Audit Report No. 01/2015 on Debt Management

Cabinet endorsed the Government Response to the Auditor-General’s Performance Audit Report No. 01/2015: Debt Management for tabling in the Legislative Assembly.

Building an Integrated Transport Network – Freight Strategy

Cabinet considered a draft strategy for managing freight traffic in the ACT.

Report on the review of the Workplace Privacy Act 2011 and proposed amendments

Cabinet endorsed the report on the review of the Workplace Privacy Act 2011. The review seeks to balance a worker’s right to privacy with an employer’s need to take reasonable steps to protect their business and monitor their workplace.

Options to address the sale and use of electronic cigarettes

Cabinet considered proposed amendments to the Tobacco Act 1927 about the sale, promotion, and use of electronic cigarettes. Cabinet also considered amendments to clarify the application of smoke-free laws at outdoor eating and drinking places.

Appointments

Cabinet endorsed appointments to:

  • the Board of Icon Water Limited; and
  • the Chair of the ACT Gambling and Racing Commission Governing Board.

Cabinet Secretary
