2 February 2016 - Summary of Cabinet Outcomes

As part of the ACT Government's Open Government commitment, this document is a public summary of matters considered by Cabinet. It is not intended to be a detailed set of minutes and does not cover all matters considered by Cabinet. Among matters not covered are materials considered in the formation of the ACT budget, commercial and industrial matters under negotiation, as well as matters that would impact personal privacy, security and the ACT economy. Nothing in this document can be considered a waiver of the Government's executive privilege.

2016 Legislation Program

Cabinet considered the Government’s legislation program for 2016, and endorsed a schedule of bills.

Red Tape Reduction Legislation Amendment Bill 2016

Cabinet endorsed the inclusion of red tape reduction initiatives in the Red Tape Reduction Legislation Amendment Bill 2016.  The Bill would amend legislation to reduce  unnecessary regulatory burdens on the community, including in relation to statutory declarations, requirements about complaints, and notification of health and safety incidents.

Transplantation and Anatomy Act Amendment Bill

Cabinet endorsed the introduction of the Transplantation and Anatomy Amendment Bill 2016 into the Legislative Assembly.  The Bill includes amendments to facilitate organ and tissue donation in the ACT.

Appointments

Cabinet endorsed appointments to the:

  • Children and Youth Services Ministerial Advisory Council; and
  • The Human Rights Commission, for the one month re-appointment of the Human Rights and Discrimination Commissioner, ahead of the commencement of the new structure of the Human Rights Commission on 1 April 2016.
