29 FEBRUARY 2016 - SUMMARY OF CABINET OUTCOMES

As part of the ACT Government’s Open Government commitment, this document is a public summary of matters considered by Cabinet. It is not intended to be a detailed set of minutes and does not cover all matters considered by Cabinet. Among matters not covered are materials considered in the formation of the ACT budget, commercial and industrial matters under negotiation, as well as matters that would impact personal privacy, security and the ACT economy. Nothing in this document can be considered a waiver of the Government’s executive privilege.

Committees of Cabinet

A meeting of the Budget Committee of Cabinet was convened. Ministers and Treasury officials discussed items of fiscal importance to the ACT.

A meeting of the Transport Reform Subcommittee of Cabinet was convened. Ministers and relevant officials discussed the transition to the new Transport Canberra arrangements and other travel priorities.

National Partnership on the National Quality Agenda for Early Childhood Education and Care

Cabinet endorsed the ACT joining the National Partnership on the National Quality Agenda for Early Childhood Education and Care. This national partnership facilitates a unified national commitment to improving educational and developmental outcomes for children attending services provided under the framework.

Red Tape Reduction Legislation Amendment Bill 2016

Cabinet agreed to the presentation of the Red Tape Reduction Legislation Amendment Bill 2016 to the Legislative Assembly in the March sitting week. The Bill simplifies, streamlines, modernises and reduces reporting burdens on a variety of legislation.

Planning and Development (Efficiencies) Amendment Bill 2016

Cabinet agreed to the presentation of the Planning and Development (Efficiencies) Amendment Bill 2016 to the Legislative Assembly in the March sitting week. The Bill introduces a new process to facilitate the concurrent assessment of development applications and environmental impact studies.

Cabinet endorsed appointments to the Domestic Violence Prevention Council.
