Summary of Cabinet Outcomes for the Week of 14 August 2017

Memorandum of Understanding with the government of South Australia on the Space Industry

Cabinet agreed for the Chief Minister to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the South Australian Premier on the development of the Australian space industry.

Government Response to the Select Committee on Estimates Report into the Appropriation Bill 2017-2018 and the Appropriation (Office of the Legislative Assembly) Bill 2017-2018

Cabinet agreed to the Government's Response to the Select Committee on Estimates Report into the Appropriation Bill 2017-2018 and Appropriation (Office of the Legislative Assembly) Bill 2017-2018.

Work Health and Safety — Hazardous Chemicals Reforms

Cabinet agreed to adopt the nationally agreed model work health and safety laws on hazardous chemicals and major hazard facilities under the Work Health and Safety Regulation 2011. Adopting the national model laws will require amendments to the Territory's dangerous substances legislation.

These reforms will modernise workplace chemical safety in the Territory and meet our obligations for adopting nationally consistent model work health and safety regulations.

Statute Law Amendment Bill 2017

Cabinet agreed to present the Statute Law Amendment Bill 2017 to the Legislative Assembly. The Bill makes non-controversial, minor and technical amendments of legislation under the technical amendments program.

Lakes Amendment Bill 2017

Cabinet agreed to the preparation of amendments to the Lakes Act 1976.

Ministerial Statements

Cabinet endorsed Ministerial statements for the August sitting of the Legislative Assembly on the following topics:

  • North American Delegation;
  • Centenary Hospital;
  • Aluminium Cladding; and
  • Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs.

Appointments

Cabinet endorsed appointment(s) to:

  • the ACT Bushfire Council; and
  • trustees to the Master Builders Fidelity Fund Scheme.

Cabinet Secretary
