Tuggeranong residents will have better and more comfortable access to public transport with the expansion of Wanniassa Park and Ride, as well as new and upgraded bus stops throughout the Tuggeranong Valley.
“More Canberrans than ever before are using our new public transport network to get to work and school. We want to make it easier and more comfortable for Canberrans to take public transport,” Minister for Transport Chris Steel said.
“Since we opened the Wanniassa Park and Ride and the new bus stop on Athllon Drive just a few years ago, we’ve seen huge growth in its use and we want even more people to use it to take public transport.
“We’ve listened to the Tuggeranong community and we will expand the Wanniassa Park and Ride with 30 additional car spaces to make it easier for residents to access new Rapid services that we’ve added.
“We are investing in public transport now to ensure Canberra doesn’t end up congested like Melbourne or Sydney. We want to ensure community members have safe and modern infrastructure to support them as they travel around our city,” Minister Steel said.
More public transport upgrades will be rolled out across Tuggeranong:
- Improvements to signage and wayfinding at the Tuggeranong interchange
- Improvements to signage and wayfinding at the Erindale interchange
- Installation of more bus shelters on Ashley Drive for passengers using Rapid 5; and
- Upgrades to other bus stops throughout the Tuggeranong Valley
“These upgrades and improvements will make it easier for people to access public transport and to find their bus easily. The new signage will match the rollouts in the City and Woden ensuring consistency across the Territory.
“Design work is also underway on the duplication of Athllon Drive to improve traffic flow and access to public transport along this key transport corridor for the Southside.”
“This is just the start, we’ll continue to build on our positive plans for Tuggeranong,” Minister Steel said.
