Released 10/08/2023 - Joint media release

Calling Canberrans to nominate people with disability, businesses and individuals who create a more inclusive Canberra for the 2023 Chief Minister’s Inclusion Awards.

The Chief Minister’s Inclusion Awards celebrate people with disability who are leaders in our community. They also recognise the outstanding achievements of businesses, organisations and individuals who demonstrate commitment to encourage, welcome and support people with disability in their workplace, business and community.

Chief Minister, Andrew Barr said, “These awards are an important celebration of the individuals and businesses committed to supporting people with disability and creating an inclusive community. I encourage Canberrans to nominate those who deserve to be recognised for their dedication to inclusion.”

Minister for Disability Emma Davidson added, “These awards are an opportunity to celebrate the outstanding achievements of people with disability in our community, and to value allies of people with disability working to change the world for the better.

“If we’re going to build a better world, we have to do things differently. We need people who see things differently, have different life experiences, think differently.”

The Inclusion Awards will be presented at a gala event on Wednesday 6 December 2023 and will feature 12 awards across 4 categories:

  • Recognising people with disability who are leaders in inclusion
  • Excellence and innovation in community access and inclusion
  • Achieving inclusion through supporting the independence and wellbeing of people with disability
  • Championing rights, protection and justice

The Chief Minister’s Award for Excellence will be presented to one of the winners from across the 4 categories.
