Inaugural Alastair Swayn Internship awarded to Canberra architectural students

Two Canberra architecture students have been awarded the  inaugural Alastair Swayn Internship, which was established by the ACT  Government to honour Mr Swayn's contribution to the ACT.

University of Canberra Masters of Architecture students  Daniel Schorn and Cornelius Pau impressed the selection board so much they were  both awarded an internship.

Daniel and Cornelius will undertake a research assignment  within the ACT Government and receive mentorship from ACT Government Architect  Catherine Townsend to support them to design great buildings that will add to  Canberra's future skyline.

They will also receive a $2,500 research grant from The  Alastair Swayn Foundation on assignment completion, which includes the  opportunity for publication.

Professor Fellow Alastair Swayn was a prominent Canberra  architect and founding partner of the multi-award-winning architectural  practice Daryl Jackson Alastair Swayn.

Alastair was the inaugural ACT Government Architect, a  Professorial Fellow at the University of Canberra and a founding sponsor and  Director of the Gallery of Australian Design, which has been renamed 'The  Sway in his honour.

After he passed away in 2016, the ACT Government committed  to support the establishment of an internship program to enable young, emerging  architects to work with the government in honour of Alastair's many  contributions.

The Alastair Swayn Internship  Program a joint initiative between the ACT Government, University of Canberra  and the Alastair Swayn Foundation.
