Upgraded helibase for Toll SouthCare Rescue Helicopter

Released 30/05/2019

An upgraded helibase is now operating in Hume to help our rescue services reach more patients sooner.

The helibase houses the Toll SouthCare Rescue Helicopter and its flight crews, who provide expert aeromedical and rescue operations to the ACT and NSW region.

The upgraded helibase has been carefully planned and designed to provide a purpose-built facility that benefits the community and helibase staff. Upgrades include remote activated doors that enable crews to get off the ground and in the air quicker.

The new landing pad includes a specialist aircraft lighting system that guides aircraft into the landing zone safely at night, ensuring the safety of our crews on board and on the ground.

Under our cross border funding arrangements with NSW, $2.7 million has supported the extensive upgrade to the helicopter base.

The helibase is part of the invaluable partnership between Toll, SouthCare and the NSW Government and demonstrates our commitment to caring for communities of the ACT and surrounding regions now and into the future.

The Toll SouthCare Rescue Helicopter team services a large regional area including Moruya, Bega, Eden, Snowy Mountains, Cooma, Wagga Wagga, Griffith, Hay, Narrandera, Temora, Harden, Crookwell and Goulburn.
