Supporting healthier Canberra workplaces

Released 03/11/2023

The ACT Government is committed to a healthier Canberra. The free Healthier Work program helps employers create healthy and safe work environments.

Minister for Industrial Relations and Workplace Safety Mick Gentleman said the program assists businesses to implement strategies and activities that protect, support and promote health and wellbeing in the workplace.

“Resources to support both mental and physical safety in workplaces are provided throughout the program. Leadership advice, networking opportunities and access to experienced Healthier Work advisors are also key parts of the program,” Minister Gentleman said.

“The ACT Government is committed to improving our working environments and that starts with good work. The Healthier Work program provides practical support for Canberra businesses wanting to improve employee wellbeing.”

“When a business joins the program they sign the Healthier Work pledge, committing to protecting, supporting and promoting good mental and physical health in their workplace.”

Healthier Work participant Parbery were looking for new ways to improve their wellbeing supports.

“The Healthier Work program helps us achieve our goals. We love getting the newsletters and learning what other workplaces are doing – we love sharing our ideas too,” says Kylie Burnett, Managing Partner at Parbery.

“Everyone goes through ups and downs. Being a Healthier Work workplace doesn’t mean those ups and downs don’t happen, it just means that we can bounce back quicker.”

To join the Healthier Work program, Canberra businesses can visit the Healthier Work website www.healthierwork.act.gov.au.
