Research affirms direction set by Future of Education

Released 05/11/2018

Today I released the Future of Education Consultation Report and Research Report. These two reports outline the basis of the Future of Education Strategy and the actions it contains.

The Future of Education conversation occurred through a thorough discussion with the community, involving nearly 5,000 people (including students) as well as an in-depth look at educational research nationally and internationally.

The government examined research from a wide variety of published sources, including some studies suggested by the community, and the Research Report provides a synopsis of several of those papers. While community feedback was vital in developing the Future of Education vision, the strategy is also firmly grounded in research and evidence.

The research affirmed many of the ideas raised by the community, which is a reflection of how engaged the people in Canberra are with issues that matter to them.

The Future of Education Strategy aims to make sure every child receives a great education and the life chances that flow from it.

The government is working on the actions in the first phase of the strategy with an emphasis on empowering each student to tread their own educational pathway and ensuring our teachers are highly skilled at engaging and supporting our students through their learning journeys.
